PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
Welcome to the Cairns Saints Football Club for 2026. I am very honoured to be serving the Club as President this year supported by our highly skilled and dedicated volunteer committee.
With any sporting club, you cannot function without the support of our sponsors and it gives me great pleasure to welcome aboard Keir Constructions as our major sponsor for 2026. I would also like to welcome back all our loyal sponsors from 2025 and newly signed sponsors for 2026 – without your support we do not get to have a club so Thank you!
2026 is looking to be a cracker year with some much anticipated renovations happening to the Club House early in the year with the support of a Gambling Community Benefit Fund Grant. Senior Mens and Womens teams and competitive age group Junior teams commenced training in January with our younger Junior teams to be back on the park towards the end of February.
Under the guidance of Chris Novy, our Senior Men are looking to continue to grow from the 2025 season with many of our key senior players returning this season bolstered by young emerging home grown talent who debuted throughout 2025 and a smattering of new talent from other leagues. With the assistance of Mark Harbrow, the experience, knowledge and professionalism of these 2 coaches puts the club in a very good spot to excel in 2026.
Jake O’Hallaron has taken on the coaching role for our Senior Women in 2026. In 2025 we saw our experienced players work hard for the team, new players develop and start to come into their own and junior talent being offered the opportunity to play. 2026 we see the return of some familiar faces and new talent to bolster the experience in the team. Should be an amazing season for this group.
Our Junior ranks continue to swell with the club anticipated to field teams in every division both girls, mixed and boys. I would like to thank Mark Moore our junior coordinator for his commitment to the club and would also like to acknowledge the amazing effort of all volunteers who coach, manage, run water, assist as first aid officers and run for these Junior teams.
Our club is about family, our club is about unity, our club is about welcoming and good people and creating success.
I look forward to welcoming you to our club is 2026.
Cheers
Donagh Freestun, President, Cairns Saints AFNC
