Juniors AFL Welcome to the 2018 Season of AFL Juniors in Cairns. Teams As a junior side, we have teams in every age group including:
With the introduction of the Womens League in AFL, we are hoping to develop enough junior girls to have a dedicated side for Girls in the U/14 competition and then the Youth Girls competition. Currently we have girls competing in the various age groups up to the U/13 division. AFL Superstars Junior Match Programs for players aged 5 years to 7 years. This competition will run for 3 weekends in August and 3 weekends in August. Further information is available in the AFL Superstars brochure [PDF 971kb] Training Prior to Easter the main training sessions (non-competitive/competitive) will be Wednesday nights starting from the 14th February. Some of the competitive age groups may train on another night/location as outlined by the coach. Games Most Junior sides (up to U/14s) play on Sundays through-out the season with games scheduled around school holidays. The U15.5s and Senior Colts are mainly scheduled on Friday nights, with a few games allocated on Wednesday. Pathways The Cairns Saints Juniors also provide a pathway for the AFL Cape York Eagle boys to ensure that they can be involved competition football as soon as they come to Cairns. This has resulted in boys that have stayed in Cairns at the completion of their studies, playing for the Cairns Saints Seniors.
